What is Pull The Roots Out?
Pull The Roots Out (PTRO) is my outlet for serving as an educator, life coach, and author through various websites and formats. For over a decade I have been developing the idea of packaging my talents. I have finally found the recipe that feels good and allows me to do just that - share with the world who I am, what I do, what I'm passionate about, and how I can help.
The title, Pull The Roots Out, was inspired by my attendance at a Tony Robbins event a few years ago in Newark New Jersey. I attended the Unleash the Power Within 4-day immersion program and learned so much! I gained the confidence to use my voice and share with others more about myself and my passions. When Tony was on stage he made a reference to 'pulling the roots out' instead of mowing over them - rather, to 'wrip them out of the ground for good!'. He explained the psychology behind identifying core beliefs and the importance of getting to the 'root' of the problem and to then realize the values, rules, and behaviors that had developed as a pattern in life, aka. bad choices, pain and suffering, decision-making, confidence, understanding, self-compassion, and so on. It all made sense.
So, a few years I've finally unveiled my vision and hopes, in the form of education, becoming trained and offering life coaching, and becoming an author - through the long hours of making the changes to many of my core beliefs. I hope you will follow along the journey and you find my writing helpful, inspiring, curious, and engaging.
So, what is Pull The Roots Out? Simply put, my passion of sharing thoughts and ideas and strategies (and many questions) with the world around me driving me forward towards my vision of helping others.

Where You Will Find Me...
You can find me in a variety of roles and places. I work mostly full-time for different universities serving as an online adjunct instructor. I have also served as a full-time Assistant Professor. Mostly, I teach online. When I'm not teaching, you can find me at this website (my professional portfolio website), through www.socialworkprofessor.com which is where I host the podcast dedicated to university students.
When I'm not hanging around on the internet, you can find me walking the Main Street here in Eastern Oregon (Union, to. be exact - with an overwhelming population of around 1500), sitting out in the park next to my home reading a great book, or enjoying the local mountain scenery with friends and family. My companion, Hunter, is around 8 years old and is with me all the time and is the center of my heart. Who is Hunter? My 8-year old miniature German short-haired pointer...but the vet thinks he has some Beagle in him :) |
